Combining physical strength training, neurocognitive training and gaming can provide a wide range of health benefits for people of all ages. The use of exergames, which are video games that require physical activity, can motivate people to engage in strength training, providing an enjoyable way for people to engage in physical activity, making it more likely that they will stick with their strength training routine. Additionally, exergames can also provide a sense of competition and accomplishment, further motivating people to continue with their strength training.

Combining physical and neurocognitive training shows to have a greater impact on physical and cognitive functions than if each training were done separately. This is because physical activity stimulates the brain and neurocognitive training focuses on exercises that challenge the brain. By combining these two elements, the brain is stimulated in multiple ways, leading to improved cognitive and physical function. Additionally, physical activity also engages all of the senses which can further boost cognitive function. Data driven exergame based systems like the ddrobotec® robotic personal trainer can provide users with real-time feedback on their progress, allowing them to make any necessary adjustments to their training routine.

Andreas Marc Buehler at SAE Zurich in 2019.

I taught Game Art & 3D Animation at SAE Institute Zürich for almost 3 years. I helped students learn the basics of Autodesk Maya and Unreal Engine 4. I have always been fascinated by the creativity and technical skill required to create stunning visuals for video games and animated films. And I have found that teaching others how to do the same is extremely rewarding. One of the things I loved most about teaching game art and 3D animation is seeing the progress my students made over the course of the semester. They start out as beginners, but by the end of the class, they are able to create their own 3D models, animate them, and even create their own game levels. The skills the students learn are also transferable to other industries like film and television, architecture, and product design. It is a constantly evolving field, which makes it an exciting subject to teach.
